Crystal Structure of Cannabinoid Receptor 1 Resolved: Implications for Pain Management

Late last year, www.clinicalpainadvisor.com published this article, within which a research study that resolved the crystal structure of the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) is explained.  American and Chinese institutions conducted the study and reported that the analgesic properties of cannabinoids were shown to be effective on modalities ranging from acute pain to neuropathic and chronic pain. In addition, the endocannabinoid system was found to be negatively impacted by several chronic pain conditions, which include osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
